How To Handle Salary Requirement Requests

Employers ask for salary requirements and your salary history for a number of reasons. The salary requirement request usually means the firm doesn't want to waste time interviewing someone they can't afford or a check to see if the applicant can follow directions.

Place a sentence similar to this one at the end of your cover letter:

While I consider all factors in an employment offer, I require a salary in the mid/low/high ($#)'s.

Don't include your salary requirements if it's not specifically asked for! It's not only inappropriate, but it tells too much about you before you've even had a chance to interview.
